Assam University Silchar is inviting applications from eligible candidates for the recruitment of Project Research Scientist I (Non-Medical) under the project titled “Studies on fecal metagenomics to identify biomarkers with response to breast and complementary feeding in infants of tribal population from Arunachal Pradesh.”
Established in 1994 under the Assam (Central) University Act 1989, Assam University is committed to academic excellence and research advancement. The university’s main campus is located in Dargakona, about 20 km from Silchar, set amidst scenic hillocks typical of the northeast, covering an area of 600 acres. Additionally, Assam University has another campus in Diphu, serving the Karbi Anglong district. The university has jurisdiction over five districts of Assam: Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi, Dima Hasao, and Karbi Anglong.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have an M.Sc. (Completed) / Pursuing Ph.D. / Completed Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or equivalent fields in Biological Sciences with a minimum of 55% marks.
Age Limit: 30 years (Relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST/OBC, women, and physically handicapped candidates).
Fellowship
Salary: Rs. 56,000 + (HRA @ 10%) = Rs. 61,600/- per month
Job Responsibilities
Conducting research activities related to the project.
Collection of samples from volunteers.
Application of molecular biology techniques for processing and analysis of samples.
Analysis of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) data.
